Retail Tour: Galleria Shopping Destination

Last week, I stopped out to a local shopping area in Edina, MN – THE GALLERIA.

The Galleria has been an institution of shopping in Edina for as long as I can remember; starting out as a strip mall and now, it is billed as a Shopping Destination.  To support this change, there has been a tremendous amount of store turnover and an introduction of new retail.

Hotels, cafes, salons and galleries are part of the retail mix.  People go there to meet people, get their hair done, go for dinner and even stay for the night.  Walking through the Galleria last week, yes, they have turned it into more than just a strip mall of stores –  it is truly a Destination Center.

One of the new stores is the new concept store from The North Face – a women’s running and training store – which I believe is a retail store slated to fill the hole when the Lucy stores were closed.   The North Face pulled their traditional store from the Galleria and moved this new concept store into the old Lucy location. Below are photos from the new The North Face Women’s Concept Store.

Vineyard Vines, also new to the Galleria, posed a striking difference in store presentation from its neighbor, The North Face.  Vineyard Vines is packed full of merchandise with a variety of colors and decor, whereas, The North Face presents a minimalist tone that allows you to focus in on a specific set of apparel – running and training apparel.

Two new stores coming soon to the Galleria are Filson and Shinola! These will be exciting additions.

Tumi with their glass enclosed front window box – gives the shopper an interesting perspective.  My eye also caught the decorative lighting in the window for Sundance.  And, just down the hall is the entryway water feature at the Lili Spa. Below are a few photos from these retail locations.
